The establishment of the Chair of Cryobiology at the Institute for Problems of Cryobiology and Cryomedicine of the National Academy of Sciences of the Ukraine is considered by UNESCO as oneof the main factors, contributing to the development of investigations in the main fields of biology and biotechnology, fundamental and applied cryobiology problems.
The main aims of the Chair:
- to provide an application of achievements in cryobiological science and technologies for life quality approvement, especially in developing countries;
- to prepare highly qualified staff via post graduate course, doctorate and other trainings;
- to carry-out and realize organizational and methodical, as well as practical assistance in the investigations, connected with the application of cryogenic technologies by means of food quality improvement, preservation of seeds, gra ins and another biological material;
- to establish a data bank for the acceleration and timely exchange of information between institutes and other centers;
- to conduct investigations on cryobiological projects, including the problems of cryopreservation, studying medicines, preparations, vaccines, sera, bacterial cultures, cold effect on a human and animals' organism, the establishment o f cryobanks for long-term storage of different biological objects.

The collaborators of the UNESCO Chair will be very thankful to the partners, interested in a joint cooperation, promoting to the participation in different international programs, grants and work with the purpose of the development of scientific collaboration between countries.
